Welcome

Hey Y'all! This is our podcast about finding wholeness and healing from unresolved trauma.

I'm Jess and this is my cohost, Laura, and we are her to have an open and honest conversation about our struggles with, and our journey through, mental illness.

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Laura is an Early Childhood Development Professor, and together we are going to be discussing books that have helped us overcome our fears and taught us how to embrace our authentic selves.

We combine academic research, biblical truth, and personal experiences to help others grow in their faith and develop resilience against the darkness of this world.

Faith is the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things unseen. Faith is what heals betrayal and builds trust.

When we find ourselves unable to trust, we are oftentimes left feeling confused and alone. We are lost and wandering, looking for ways to put our seemingly shattered lives back together.

For myself and Laura, the answer was, and still is, Jesus.

Trust is the foundation for all healthy and balanced relationships and if you want to have healthy and balanced relationships, you need to be, in fact, healthy and balanced.

As a counselor, my priority is helping my clients learn how to trust themselves and the decisions they make. This begins with making a commitment to your journey through the many stages of growth and development no matter how messy and uncertain things may seem.

It means making choices that lead you in the direction of your desired destinations and holding yourself accountable to, and responsible for, those choices; even when they produce undesirable outcomes.

This means simultaneously accepting moments of failure and celebrating moments of success.

In order to successfully function in life we must learn to be flexible and adaptable to the changes happening around us, and we can do this much better when we know who we are and why we are here.

You have a purpose and my purpose is to speak life into you until you discover who you were created to be!
